Membership with ACHS

Founded in 1925, ACHS is the organization honor societies join when they want their society certified by a neutral body, want to collaborate with other honor societies to promote best practices in recognizing and promoting excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and research, and seek to continually maintain the highest standards by providing annual reports and undergoing regular re-certification.

ACHS sets high priority on maintaining standards, on defining the honor society movement, and on developing criteria for judging the credibility and legitimacy of honor societies.

Who are ACHS’s members?

ACHS members are collegiate academic honor societies rather than  professional and social fraternities.

ACHS sets standards for organizational excellence and for scholastic eligibility for the various categories of honor society membership: general (all academic fields), specialized (discipline-specific), and leadership. To assure member participation in governance, honor societies must be structured on a membership basis so that the interests of individual members are advanced.
